Institutions where professional placements can take place
Professional placements can take place in companies, institutions, organizations and other entities that have the status of a legal entity and are located in one of the programme countries.
Exception - placements cannot be done in the following institutions:
• European institutions (list available at http://europa.eu/agencies/ )
• institutions that manage European Union programmes
• diplomatic missions of the Republic of Croatia abroad
Openings for placements can be found in the following manners:
• independently, by directly contacting companies/organizations or through a portal specifically intended for placements: ErasmusIntern.org ( http://erasmusintern.org /), LEO-NET ( http://www.leo-net.org/ ), Globalplacement ( http://globalplacement.com/ ), EU-Move ( http://www.eumoveabroad.eu/ ), Praxis ( www.praxisnetwork.eu )
• with the assistance of the National Agency for Mobility and EU Programmes;
• with the assistance of Bernays
• independently
Students must agree with Bernays and the foreign institution where they will perform their placement the plan and programme with the aim of recognizing the achieved results upon returning to Bernays. If recognition is not possible, Bernays is required to record the mobility for training in the Study Supplement document.
Learning Agreement for Traineeships
For mobilities for training, it is not necessary to conclude an inter-institutional agreement with the partner organization in which the student will carry out the placement, however, before going on a mobility, it is mandatory to conclude a Learning Agreement for Traineeship in English (Learning agreement for traineeships form).
The Learning Agremeent for Traineeships includes the following: the internship activity plan, learning outcomes with regard to the knowledge, skills and competencies that the student must acquire, mentoring, the connection between the placement and the study programme, the achieved results that will be recognized upon completion of the placement.
Insurance
Three types of insurance are obligatory for Erasmus+ placements:
1. health insurance,
2. accident insurance and
3. liability insurance.
Students are required to inform themselves in a timely manner about the conditions of insurance in the foreign country with the competent institutions. Students can take out an appropriate insurance policy of their choice, in the Republic of Croatia or abroad. The policy must include the correct insurance period that covers the entire period of mobility. In the case of extending the professional placement, students must take care that their policies are valid for the extended period as well.
1. Health insurance
The student is required to obtain health insurance for the entire mobility period. Students who are entitled to the European Health Insurance Card have basic health insurance even during their stay in another EU country. However, the insurance covered by the European Health Insurance Card may not be sufficient, especially in the case of repatriation and certain medical interventions. In this case, additional private insurance may be useful. Note: The European Health Insurance Card does not cover accident insurance at the workplace, nor does it cover private liability insurance.
2. Accident insurance related to the student's obligations (it covers at least damage caused to the student at the workplace)
Accident insurance covers damage caused to employees caused by workplace accidents. In many countries, employees are insured against workplace accidents. However, the scope of insurance for international students on a placement who are covered by the same insurance may vary depending on the country. It is the responsibility of the student and the receiving institution/company to check whether accident insurance is organized at the workplace. The Learning Agreement for Traineeships document clearly states whether the receiving institution provides such insurance or not. If it is not obligatory according to the national provisions of the host country, the receiving institution is not required to provide such insurance. In that case, the student is required to independently take out an accident insurance policy.
3. Liability insurance (insurance against damage that the student may cause at the workplace)
Liability insurance covers damage caused by the student during his mobility. The student and the host institution are required to check whether there is a legal liability insurance obligation in the host country. The Learning Agreement for Traineeships document clearly states whether the receiving institution provides such insurance or not. If it is not obligatory according to the national provisions of the host country, the receiving institution is not required to provide such insurance. In that case, the student is required to obtain liability insurance policy on their own.
