Business Administration ( Bachelor of Business Administration ) is a managerial discipline that focuses on the fundamentals of business operations of organizations. It combines theoretical and practical knowledge from the fields of economics, entrepreneurship and management and combines the ability to make strategic and operational decisions, critical and creative thinking in solving business situations.

Managing an organizational system or organizational unit requires reflection, making decisions, responsibility, agility and expertise, as well as working with people and other organizations. It is a dynamic profession that implies knowledge of basic and advanced management and managerial principles and skills.

This study programme develops precisely these skills, as well as analytical, systemic and creative thinking and the ability to recognize and apply models of analysis of the environment, business system and processes of the organization with the aim of successfully managing its competitiveness.

By studying at Bernays, you will learn and prepare for a successful career at the middle management level or for starting and managing your own business venture. About the study

The undergraduate study programme has been set up as a foundation for understanding business and organizational activities in the domestic and global environment. It provides an academic foundation of general knowledge in business economics with a focus on business administration and interdisciplinary knowledge in the business related fields of information and communication sciences, sociology and psychology, as well as specialist knowledge in the fields of international management, sustainable development management, sports management and tourism management.

The study provides general and specialist knowledge and develops the competences of effective decision-making and successful communication, which bring benefits for a successful career in business systems and organizations. In addition to a significant share of economics-related educational content, the study programme provides you interdisciplinary knowledge and abilities integrated in as many as four different fields of application within the field of economics in one study programme: Tourism Management, Sports Management, International Management and Management of Sustainable Development.

Already during their studies, students gain a high level of experience through a system of professional placements. In the structure and content of the study programmes, in addition to professional ones, practical competences and abilities are developed, which employers in various areas of the economy emphasize as necessary for rapid integration into the labour market.

In addition to interdisciplinary courses that provide knowledge and applicative skills, students in this study programme also attend courses where they acquire generic competencies required in business in the area of effective decision-making and successful communication, mastery of business terminology in foreign languages, business negotiation, etc. Acquisition of these competences already during studies provides students’ a competitive advantage over other candidates, which also represents a comparative advantage of this study.

Programme concept

The study programme is designed in such a manner that conducted in the first and second year of study are obligatory courses that are the foundation of business economics and characteristic of the globally recognized curriculum of BBA studies, courses in information and communication sciences, sociology and psychology, as well as elective courses. In the third year of the programme, four different tracks are offered, allowing you to specialize according to your own preferences: Management in Tourism, Management in Sports, International Management and Management of Sustainable Development.

The study programme is designed to allow you to select a study track that will guide you towards the area that motivates you and that you want to pursue in the future. The initial selection of track provides you with the opportunity to check out your future choice of profession during your studies, through 300 hours professional placements, enabling you to feel fulfilled and satisfied at the same time.

You have the opportunity to shape the study programme according to your preferences by selecting three out of 30 elective courses, of which 19 are taught in Croatian and 11 in English. Elective courses cover innovative and interdisciplinary content that are in demand in the business environment of modern organizations, and at the same time, satisfy a wide range of your interests.

Do you want to listen to a part of the study programme in English, write a final paper in one of the active languages used by our professors, or perhaps spend a semester abroad on a mobility? No problem. We will satisfy all three wishes and provide an individual approach that we are known for for ten years already.

Tracks

In order for your education to be in line with the labour market requirements for experts in the field of business management, but also with particularly deficient subspecialties in sectors that are nationally recognized as deficient in the field of education, in the third year of undergraduate studies, we have ensured you with the option of selecting one of four tracks:

Management in Tourism

The Management in Tourism track educates you to manage an organizational unit or activity that is responsible for the design of innovative tourism products, experience management in tourism and the development of sustainable tourist destinations. With the successful completion of the Business Administration – Management in Tourism study programme, you will be able to plan the sustainable development of tourism by developing the tourist offer and proposing projects for the development of special forms of tourism in the tourist destination, create a unique tourist product and place it on the international consumer market, create and implement a marketing and communication strategy for the purpose of branding the tourist destination and lead various projects related to tourism and the tourist offer of the organization on the global market.

International management

The International Management course of study trains you to manage an organizational unit or activity that is responsible for international business and the organization's performance on international markets. On this course, you will learn to manage business operations and organizations that operate on an international level, which includes planning, organizing, leading and controlling activities and resources in a global context. Upon successful completion of the study of Business Management - major International Development Management, you will be able to rationalize decisions to expand your business to a specific international market based on, analyze the state, trends and future expected movements in international finance using various indicators, design and implement marketing activities in the real and virtual international environment of the organization , manage the corporate identity and image of the organization in the international environment and lead various projects related to the organization's international presence on the global market.

Management in Sports

The Management in Sports track introduces you to a wide range of topics and disciplines that are relevant to business in the sports industry and prepares you to manage sports organizations and events. In this track, you will learn to perform functions such as managing a sports club or organization, negotiating contracts with players, planning and organizing sports events, managing marketing activities, managing sports facilities, managing sports finances and sponsorships, developing sports policies and strategies, and providing support to athletes in their development and career. Upon successful completion of the Business Administration – Management in Sports study programme, you will be able to apply specific skills and managerial competencies for the purpose of efficient management of a sports organization and the development of its talents, design and implement the marketing and communication activities of a sports organization, manage events and sponsorships of a sports organization, and lead various projects related to sport and sports activities or the operations of a sports organization on the global market.

Management of Sustainable Development

The Management of Sustainable Development track educates you to manage an organizational unit or activity that is responsible for both the sustainable development of the organization and the application of sustainability principles in business. Are you looking for answers to key questions that lead companies in the direction of sustainable development, respecting all current regulations, directives and guidelines? Are you interested in learning more about the regulatory framework for ESG reporting, the Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD), the Non-Financial Reporting Directive (NFRD) or what the European Sustainability Reporting Standards (ESRS) are? This track will provide you with answers to all these questions. Upon successful completion of the Business Administration – Management of Sustainable Development, you will be able to design green strategies and business plans for sustainable management of the business system, create a non-financial report of the organization, evaluate the business potential of sustainable use of natural and cultural heritage, and lead various projects related to sustainable development and environmental protection and natural resources.

In the second and third year, as a third foreign language, it is possible to enrol in a third foreign language course as an elective or optional course, if it is being conducted. There is no requirement for prior knowledge of the second foreign language (German 1, Italian 1, Spanish 1) at the first level of the second foreign language. The admission requirement for the second level is A2, the third is A2.2, and the fourth is B1. Note: ** the Croatian Language and Culture course is offered as an elective course for Erasmus students.

Where to work after completing undergraduate studies?

As a bachelor’s degree in business management, you will be extremely competitive on the labour market as a future employee for employers in the private and public sector, and above all, for those who require interdisciplinary knowledge from employees, but also as an initiator and implementer of one’s own business venture.

In organizations, you can expect middle management positions that necessarily participate and strongly contribute to excellence in business operations, quality operations and competitiveness of the employer, but also participate in the implementation of the transformation of business management, which is expected of business entities in accordance with ESG (environmental, social and governance) at the national and global level, and implying possessing the ability and competence to understand human behaviour, as well as the expected responsible behaviour of companies and the related skills of applying this knowledge in practice.

Upon completion of the professional undergraduate study programme in Business Management, the following professional title is obtained: Professional Bachelor (baccalaureus/baccalaurea) of Business Management with additional indication of one of the four tracks in which the student specialized.

Annual tuition fee for enrollment in Business Management professional undergraduate study programme 

Model A:

EUR 3,890.00

The full amount of tuition is paid within eight days of enrollment. The tuition fee is expressed with a discount in the amount of 250 eur.

Model B:

EUR 4,140.00

The tuition fee is paid in two equal installments of EUR 2,070.00 at the beginning of each semester; (1) when enrolling in the academic year, (2) before the start of the summer semester.

An enrollment candidate who chooses to pay the tuition fee in installments receives a promissory note at enrollment as a means of securing tuition fee payment, which must be authenticated by a notary public at the candidate's own expense.

Model C:

EUR 4,140.00

The amount of tuition is paid in up to 11 monthly installments, the first installment is paid upon enrollment and amounts to 640 euros, and the remaining installments in 10 equal annuities in the amount of 350 euros each.

An enrollment candidate who chooses to pay the tuition fee in installments receives a promissory note at enrollment as a means of securing tuition fee payment, which must be authenticated by a notary public at the candidate's own expense.

Students are exempted from payment of enrollment fees and the costs of conducting class exams.
